USA: The largest American association of physicians calls for reclassification of cannabis and protection of patients who use the drug according to state laws.

MORE LOVELY HAREM GIRLS (AND A COOL PIPE TOO!)

This painting was produced by Giulio Rosati (1858-1917).
Rosati was an Italian artist who studied at San Luca’s academy in Rome in the mid 1870’s.
Well known for his very detailed watercolors, Rosati was a prolific painter who used photography as his main source of inspiration.
While the perky breasts and shapely bottoms of the harem are [...]

Cannabis And Tooth Loss

Researchers working in support of the War on Drugs upped the ante yet again yesterday, with the release of a report that purports that smoking cannabis is directly related to gum disease and tooth loss.
Here’s how the news was reported in Pravda, the official paper of Russia . . .

Scientists: cannabis causes gum [...]

Just Say “Nada to NIDA”

We’d prefer not to be perceived as “attacking” our new science “friend”, or his “study” using 12 individuals to try and prove the so called “addictive” effects of Cannabis. He personally seems well intentioned enough, even if we do consider him hopelessly naive when it comes to the harsh reality of being used as [...]

More Harems . . . More Hookahs

In an earlier posting here at the Cannabis Chronicles, we featured artwork inspired by an Oriental movement in European Art, that prominently featured hookah’s and harem girls. Surprisingly it’s turned out to be among our most viewed posts!
With that in mind, we’ll feature a Super Bowl extravaganza of visual delights for our readers [...]

More Research - Or is It Just More Government Monkey Business?

If a certain researcher out there wonders why we are rather aggressive in our distrust of scientific attempts to prove that pot smoking is addictive, here’s an example of what’s passed for previous attempts at “science” by the National Institute on Drug Abuse . . .
Reefer monkey madness
Researchers persuade simians to get themselves stoned — [...]

More on Cannabis “addiction”

In working to give our readers the most balanced view of the current “debate” on cannabis and addiction, we thought we’d add another brief “reference” - an entry from a blogspot blog called Addiction Inbox : The Science of Substance Abuse - by Dirk Hanson, self described as “Articles and health studies about addiction and [...]

Bird’s Bookshelf 1-28-08

Our lives have been rather filled and busy of late, so we’ve not done as much original writing for the Cannabis Chronicles as we may have wished or hoped originally. Fortunately, there’s still time for reading, which requires less effort than writing, and which also can be done while soaking in a hot bathtub [...]

Stepping on Toes . . . Again

Would you believe that the author of a critically flawed study on Cannabis “addiction” came to the Cannabis Chronicles to comment on our criticism?
Here’s the full exchange - culled from the comments section and brought right out to the main pages of our humble blog, lest they be missed by our readers.
Here’s the exchange . [...]

They Call This a Study???

The standards of “medical research” in the modern age may very well have sunk to a new low, thanks to the drug war.
Looking at the methodology of the following study, we noticed it is based on the “self-reporting” of a group of only 12 individuals.
Source: Johns Hopkins Medicine
Released: Thu 24-Jan-2008, 12:20 ET
Marijuana Withdrawal as [...]
