Expectations of Ourselves
The rules and “legalese” that are necessary to have a site discussing cannabis, and other healing herbs, are already posted here at the Cannabis Chronicles. They are located on a “stand-alone” page that’s not a part of the “body” of the journal itself, as a part of the welcome “tab” that’s found at the top of this webpage.
Since it’s necessary to spell out in detail what kind of behavior we expect from folks who visit and comment, we also believe it’s only fair to lay out the ethical and journalistic standards that we expect from ourselves, and any future “staff” of the Cannabis Chronicles. In other words, we have a few commitments we’d like to make to our readers.
Journalistic Standards - We will endeavor to be as transparent and open as possible about ourselves and our experiences. As we post and journal at the Cannabis Chronicles, we will strive to be ethical, responsible, and considerate citizen reporters. In the stories and essays we post, our primary goal will be to ensure factual accuracy.
Corrections Policy - Posting factually correct information for the medical marijuana community is important to us here at the Cannabis Chronicles. Should members of the 3LB, or Cannabis Chronicles staff, inadvertently make mistakes or errors, we will correct them as soon as humanly possible, as soon as the problem is brought to our attention. Please don’t misunderstand this policy to mean we will withdraw statements simply because another individual may disagree, we certainly reserve the right to have and express our own opinions. However, we will gladly correct, and note, any actual factual errors that do occur.
Fairness & Kindness - We will strive to post as our best possible selves, and to refrain from posting when angry or upset. Under all circumstances we will work to remember that everyone of us are human beings, we all have our own good days and bad days. Should we post something that, upon reflection, we later find to be unnecessarily unkind or unfair, we plan to apologize and either take it down, or make a new post, whichever is most appropriate. The idea isn’t that we plan to hide any mistakes or lapses in judgement on our part, however, we will delete a post if we feel as though leaving it up hurts others more than leaving up the evidence of the mistake is worth.
Financial Disclosure Policy - The3LB.com and the Cannabis Chronicles are currently operated as a strictly noncommercial enterprise, and it is our long range vision to keep it that way as much as we possibly can. We don’t have any sponsors, we don’t work for anyone in the cannabis community, nor are we associated in any way with a commercial business profiting from growing. We are not associated in any way with individuals or companies who profit from herbal healing.
We are footing the bill for the domain name and bandwidth from our own personal funds. We can’t guarantee that will always be the case, but if anybody ever tosses us any “birdseed”, that is, if we accept any compensation for our work at the Cannabis Chronicles, the first thing we will do is inform our readers. Actually, the first thing we will do is light up a fatty, THEN we’ll sign on and inform the folks who visit the Cannabis Chronicles. You’d better believe that old rooster Foggy will be crowing about that!!
“Bird’s Nest” Policy on Comments - We consider our blog, the 3LB’s Cannabis Chronicles, to be a sort of “virtual extension” of our home, so what we ask is that folks behave as if we were having a barbecue together in the back yard, or perhaps a nice smoke assembled as a group in the living-room of the bird’s nest. We aren’t prudes, just ask Milly Blunt if you don’t believe us, so adult language itself is not a problem, as long as it’s not derogatory to/or about other individuals.
If you feel the need to disagree with us, that’s fine. Certainly, differing viewpoints and opinions are allowed at the bird’s nest. However, any comments that we might find threatening or offensive, were they spoken directly to us in person, can be expected to be deleted. What we are specifically working to avoid is name calling, characters assassination, or open hostility either towards the site, the 3lb’s, or towards other individuals who comment or make up the Cannabis community.
Moderation Policy - Before any of a visitor’s comments appear, their first comment must be approved by a site moderator, this policy is in place to protect the medical users who visit our site from being exposed to spam etc. After that initial post, most comments will appear immediately. The Cannabis Chronicles uses other spam fighting software as well, to protect our readers, so in some cases a post may not immediately appear if , for some reason, our spam-bots don’t like it.
Multipe ID’s - We do not ourselves condone or practice the act of creating alternate ID’s to act as a sock-puppet, at this or any other site. A sockpuppet is an individual who changes their ID solely for the purpose of making a new comment seem as though it were coming from a second individual. Individuals (including staff) who cannot follow these minimal standards here at the Cannabis Chronicles, can expect to have their handle/account and comments deleted. If necessary, repeat offenders will be subject to having their IP address banned.
Policy on Rules - If we make changes to the rules, those changes will be noted in new entries in main body of the Cannabis Chronicles journal / weblog. The rules by which we operate this website will always be available to our readers via a link in the header of our site. Currently they are listed under the “welcome” tab. Finally, for everyone’s convenience, we’ll list the sites rules one more time here in the “body” of the Cannabis Chronicles journal.
